How are siding types trending?

The siding types that are used on residential homes has steadily shifted over the past 30 years from wood products such as cedar clapboard and cedar shingles to synthetic and composite products such as vinyl siding and cement board siding.  Even more recently siding products in the "other" category such as fiber cement and Everlast are gaining market share at the expense of vinyl siding and wood siding.  There's a good reason for this.  Homeowners desire wood-like siding that doesn't require a lot of maintenance.  Wood siding is beautiful when first installed but requires maintanence. Vinyl siding is low-maintenance but doesn't look like real wood even from a distance.  Composite siding products such as Everlast have filled the void.

At Everlast we fully expect composite siding products to continue eating into the market share of vinyl siding and wood siding.  For a detailed comparison of why homeowners prefer Everlast over other siding alternatives download the Free Siding Comparison Guide.

There's definitely a noticeable shift from vinyl siding to fiber cement over the past 10 years especially in Texas and other southern climates. Some of the newer products seam to have promise too. Where is this product being installed?

Everlast is installed in dozens of different markets across the United States including Alaska. You can find specific installers at EverlastSiding.com

You’re correct. There's been a shift from vinyl to fiber cement although vinyl siding still maintains much of the market. More recently our research and surveying shows the desire for wood-like siding that doesn't require painting or contain elements prone to moisture damage. That's the market Everlast is intended for.

We've had great succes with this in our New England market. Does very well with the freeze thaw cycle unlike what happens with fiber cement.

Since Everlast doesn't contain any wood particles it doesn't delaminate like fiber cement or have problems when in close proximity to moisture.

What is Everlast made of?

Great question Mike. Everlast siding is made of a blend of inorganic crushed stone, and resin. You can download this comparison for more info:
